BETHESDA, Md.—The Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association is accepting entries for its second annual Aftermarket Telematics Challenge until Sept. 20.
The telematics competition is designed to identify and recognize the best example of technology and software that can be fitted to a vehicle to perform remote diagnostics and other safety and maintenance services, according to AAIA.
All products submitted in the competition must be in production and currently available, AAIA said. Applicants must submit a demonstration of the product, a description of its function and features and a business profile of how the product serves the interests of the independent automotive aftermarket.
The winner of this year''s competition will be announced at the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX), which will be held in Las Vegas Nov. 5-7. The winners will be recognized with a $10,000 scholarship in their name to the Aftermarket Scholarship Fund, AAIA said.
Delphi Product & Service Solutions won the first Aftermarket Telematics Challenge in 2012, AAIA said. Delphi''s OBDII plug-in Connected Car solution was the winning technology. The product works in concert with a software interface developed by Aftermarket Telematics Technologies, keeping consumers and aftermarket service providers constantly updated on the condition of the vehicle and the need for any scheduled maintenance or unscheduled repairs, AAIA said.
